1st North American Beef Congress to host the CLA Annual Meeting, Show and Sale

Plans are in motion for the first ever North American Beef Congress (NABC) being held October 28-31, 2004 in London, Ontario at the Western Fair Association.

This unique event, geared toward all sectors and levels of the beef industry, will be held at the soon-to-be-completed Agriplex at Western Fair. The four-day event will include a host of educational seminars, youth events, livestock, cooking and butcher competitions and consumer demonstrations, highlighting excellence in beef agriculture.

The focus of the event encompasses beef production, from the field to the kitchen. One primary concentration is to provide a great environment for Youth interested in the beef industry. The Youth program features the Top Meadow Farms National Junior Heifer Show, a conformation and showmanship competition, scholarship program, developmental and motivational speakers and a social event. The NABC recognizes the vital importance of Youth in our industry and wants to promote and reward their involvement in agriculture. The organization also wants to promote excellence in both purebred and commercial livestock competitions, provide events of interest to those in the food industry relating to beef and to aid in the promotion of the industries who service the beef industry.

This first Congress will include the 2004 Canadian National Limousin Association's Annual Meeting, National Limousin Show and National Limousin Sale. Additional Limousin events include the Ontario Limousin Jackpot and the Ontario Junior Limousin Show. There will be breed shows for the Angus, Charolais and Simmental and the Top Meadow National Jr. Heifer Show will be open to junior exhibitors of Angus, Charolais, Limousin and Simmental.

A commercial bred heifer pen show and pen-of-three bull show is on the schedule along with purebred and commercial sales.

"This event is an attempt to draw together the best that the beef industry has to offer, from the commercial pastures and the seed stock producers, to butchers and chefs to the ultimate consumer in order to showcase, educate and promote the beef industry," says Mr. Kym Anthony, Chair of the NABC.

The NABC is pleased to be recognized as a participating show in the RBC Beef Supreme Challenge and that the purebred male and female grand champions are invited to participate at the Canadian Western Agribition's exciting industry event.
